Kantale charity work 2006
Singithi Sarana Sri Lanka and Children of Lanka (UK)
Charity work together to support 50 financially disadvantaged children
in Kantale in Sri Lanka. These children live in abject poverty and under
the threat of LTTE terrorist attacks. We also support the development of
their schools by donating sports equipment, musical instruments and

Tsunami Sponsorship Project:
We have selected 15 children from the Ambalangoda area who have been affected by the tsunami. These children have lost either or both parents are currently being cared for by relatives. We have pledged to provide school equipment annually and give them a monthly sum of Rs. 500 towards their personal expenses.

Revatha Orphanage project:
During a recent visit to China Bay in Trincomalee we visited this orphanage which looks after destitute children in addition to children who have been made wards the court. This orphanage relies mainly on charitable donations received by well wishers and phillanthopists to sustain its operations. At present there are 35 children ranging from ages: 4 -18. Due to lack of funds to employ staff the senior children double up as carers. The charity has already provided a sewing machine and equipment for an art box so that the children can engage in creative activities as a part of therapy.

The English Library Project: Koppakanda
– health camp and library books donation
Over 20,000 books and magazines which were donated after an appeal published in the Marie Claire magazine and broadcast over BBC network Asia, we have initiated the library project. At present groups of
volounteers are engaged in the Herculean task of cataloging the books. This will be a lending library where books will be loaned for a nominal amount and funds generated from the project will be used to sustain other current projects.
